چکیده

A new method is introduced for parametric modeling of spectral envelopes when only a discrete set of spectral points is given. This method, which we call discrete all-pole (DAP) modeling, uses a discrete version of the Itakura-Saito distortion measure as its error criterion. One result is a new autocorrelation matching condition that overcomes the limitations of linear prediction and produces better fitting spectral envelopes for spectra that are representable by a relatively small discrete set of values, such as in voiced speech. We present an iterative algorithm for DAP modeling that is shown to converge to a unique global minimum. We also present results of applying DAP modeling to real and synthetic speech. DAP modeling is extended to allow frequency-dependent weighting of the error measure, so that spectral accuracy can be enhanced in certain frequency regions relative to others.

Pole Assignment Of Linear Discrete-Time Periodic Systems In Specified Discs Through State Feedback

The problem of pole assignment, also known as an eigenvalue assignment, in linear discrete-time periodic systems in discs was solved by a novel method which employs elementary similarity operations. The former methods tried to assign the points inside the unit circle while preserving the stability of the discrete time periodic system. Nevertheless, now we can obtain the location of eigenvalues ...

Harmonic weighting for all-pole modeling of the voiced speech

A new distance measure for all-pole modeling of voiced speech is introduced in this paper. It can easily be integrated within the concept of discrete Weighted Mean Square Error (WMSE) all-pole modeling, by a suitable choice of the modeling weights. The proposed weighting will address the problems such as: harmonic estimation reliability, perceptual significance of the harmonic and the model mis...

Frequency Warped All-pole Modeling of Vowel Spectra: Dependence on Voice and Vowel Quality

We address the problem of compactly representing the discrete spectral amplitudes of vowel sounds produced by a sinusoidal model. A study of frequency warped all pole model representation of spectral amplitudes has been presented. It has been generally accepted that incorporating Bark scale frequency warping in the all-pole modeling improves the perceived accuracy of the modeled sound. However ...

Eccentricity Fault Diagnosis Studying for a Round Rotor Synchronous Machine

The paper presents a mathematical base modeling combined to Modified-Winding -Function-Approach (MWFA) for eccentricity fault detection of a round-rotor synchronous machine. For this aim, a 6-pole machine is considered, and the machine inductances are computed by MWFA in healthy and also under eccentricity fault. A numerical discrete-time method has been proposed to machine modeling in voltage-...

Discrete weighted mean square all-pole modeling

The paper presents a new method for all-pole model estimation based on minimization of the weighted mean square error in the sampled spectral domain. Due to discrete nature of the proposed distance measure, emphasis can be put on an arbitrary set of spectral samples what can greatly improve the model accuracy for periodic signals. Weighting can also be applied to improve the fitting in certain ...
